How your consultation works

With me you know from the very first minute where you stand, what the next step is, what it achieves and what it costs. No jargon, no surprises.

From the first call to the decision

Most paths to my firm begin with a single question: “What do I do now?” That is exactly where I come in. You reach me on Schildergasse in the heart of Cologne, briefly describe your situation, and we look at it together, calmly and clearly.

You don’t need to prepare anything except the documents you have to hand. And you get an honest assessment from me, even when it isn’t the one you had hoped for. What comes next is your decision, I only tell you clearly what options there are.

How I work

To your rights in four clear steps.

Transparent from the very first minute, you always know where you stand and what happens next.

01

First contact & review

You send your initial enquiry, a brief description of your matter is enough. I first check whether I can take on your matter. This does not yet create an engagement.

02

Advice appointment

In a personal advice appointment we discuss the opportunities and risks, a possible strategy and the likely costs. This appointment is subject to a fee.

03

Engagement & power of attorney (Vollmacht)

If I accept your mandate, you receive written confirmation as well as a power of attorney (Vollmacht) to sign.

04

Legal representation

I represent you consistently, both out of court and in court. You stay informed at every step.

Every step in detail

What happens at each stage, and what you get from it.

Four clear stages. At each one you know what happens and what result you can expect.

  1. 01

    First contact & review

You send your initial enquiry via the form, by phone or by email and describe in a few sentences what it’s about. I first check whether I can take on your matter.

Your resultA first response on whether and how things proceed.

  2. 02

    Advice appointment

We assess together whether an advice appointment makes sense. In this conversation I classify your matter legally, openly name opportunities and risks, outline a possible strategy and the likely costs. If I do not take on your matter as an engagement, this can take place as a separate, paid advice appointment.

Your resultAn honest orientation: where do you stand, what options are there and what does each option cost?

  3. 03

Engagement & power of attorney (Vollmacht)

If we decide to work together, we record the engagement in writing: power of attorney, scope of instruction and a clear fee agreement. The engagement only begins with my express confirmation and the conclusion of these agreements.

Your resultA sound legal basis, I may represent you externally and act in your name.

  4. 04

    Legal representation

I represent you consistently, first an attempt at an out-of-court solution through correspondence and negotiation. If no fair solution can be reached that way, I represent you resolutely in court. You stay informed at every step.

Your resultYour rights are enforced out of court or in court, you always know where you stand.

Well prepared

What to bring to the first meeting

The more complete the documents, the more precise the assessment. Whatever you’re missing we can add later, better to come with incomplete documents than not at all.

For the engagement I have a power of attorney ready, you can find the relevant forms in advance under Documents & Power of Attorney.

  • All documents relating to the case (contracts, notices, termination, letters)
  • The correspondence with the other side (letters, emails, texts)
  • Deadlines and dates already running
  • Your questions and your goal: what do you want to achieve?
  • If available: legal expenses insurance (Rechtsschutzversicherung) with policy number
  • A valid ID for granting the mandate
Transparency

Clarity on costs, right from the start.

Before anything costs money, you know what to expect. I discuss all costs openly with you beforehand. You’ll find an overview of how legal costs are made up on the fees page.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the process

What does a first contact cost?
Via the initial enquiry you describe your matter without obligation at first. Whether and to what extent costs arise depends on the further steps and is discussed openly with you beforehand. You’ll find details and a cost overview on the “Fees & costs” page.
Will I have to go to court in the end?
Not necessarily. In many cases an out-of-court solution can be reached that is faster and cheaper. I only recommend going to court if it is genuinely worthwhile for your goal, and I discuss that with you beforehand.
How long does the process take?
That depends greatly on the individual case. Out-of-court clarifications are often possible within weeks; court proceedings take longer. You’ll get a realistic assessment from me once I know your case.
Which documents should I bring?
Everything related to your matter, contracts, letters from the other side, notices and running deadlines. You’ll find a compact checklist at the top of this page.
Can I be advised in Turkish or English?
Yes. Advice is available in German, Turkish and English, so you can describe your matter in the language in which you feel most confident.
